BURTON HIGH FIVES (formerly Burton NZ Open)
Half pipe and slopestyle event for snowboarding's elite athletes from around the world, held at Cardrona Alpine Resort. "A fun, competitive event in which 60 of the world's top male and female riders will be invited to take part in HP and SS competition as well as unique team challenges. Riders will not only be awarded for their individual performances in HP and SS, but will also be divided up into teams of 5 and will compete in team challenges like winter driving, skeet shooting and others."
WORLD HELI CHALLENGE
Southern Alps heliski & board freeride and freestyle days and multiple secondary events for riders held in and around Wanaka. "The World Heli Challenge brings together a handful of top athletes from around the globe to compete in helicopter-accessed competition. The goal is to find out which athlete is the best 'all rounder' by combining their freeride and freestyle skills to showcase their overall talent."
WINTER GAMES NZ
A multi-disciplinary snow sports event attracting the world's best to Wanaka and its ski areas. "Previously Winter Games NZ has hosted the FIS Snowboard Halfpipe World Cup, attracting the world's best riders, including several Olympic medalists. The programme will extend to FIS World Cup events in Snowboard Slopestyle, Snowboard cross, Freestyle Ski Halfpipe, Freestyle Ski Slopestyle and Ski Cross, as well as Snowboard Halfpipe."
